Hi all, doing a brew tomorrow and thought i'd do a brew with mainly cascade hops which i have done before recipe as follows

maris otter 4700g
crystal 460
fuggles 30g 90 min
cascade 30g 90 min
light brown sugar 250g 1hr
cascade 20g last 10 mins
protofloc last 10 mins
cascade 10g post boil

question is the 30g of cascade a waste, ie will i get any flavour from the cascade after 90 min boil or would i be better of using more fuggles or ekg which i have far more of,

thanks for that wendy but i havn't got any simcoe or amarillo any other suggestions, just love the taste of cascade.

I do a blonde ale, Dronfield Filthy Blonde with single hop cascade.

25 litres.

5kg marris otter
250g flaked maize ( crushed cornflakes will do)
couple of jars of cheapo honey (Asda or Tesco value), chuck it in at for last 15 mins of boil. (easiest way is draw off a bit in a saucepan let the jars stand in that, it melts the honey a bit and makes it easier to deal with).

now the cascade:-

(90 min boil)

20 gms at start of boil
30 gms 1/2 way through
50 gms at end of boil steep for 15 mins or so

S04 yeasties

dry hop with whatever cascade you can get your sticky mits on (about 15-20gms will do) (I go for 3-4 days in secondary fermentation)

ends up a super duper citrus blonde ale, really smooth, loads of citrus bite with an aroma and a half. Kicks the whatsits off anything in a bottle from the supermarket.

The honey makes the difference, somehow brings out all sorts of interesting flavours from the hop, every gobfull is a bit different.
