What's best to carbonate my keg, if I've to use 1 carbonation drop per bottle should I put 40 in my keg if I get 40 pints in it ??????????? Will this affect flavour at all?????

It depends on what you are putting in there and the level of carbonation you want. I would suggest you use normal sugar though, it does th same job and is much cheaper :thumb:

1 carbonation drop is equal to around 3g of sugar from what I can figure. (1 for 330, 2 for 750, or something like that).

IIRC you want around 80-120g of sugar in the barrel depending what you are brewing. For lager you would be looking at the upper limit, for an ale you would be looking way into the lower end.

I cant see why not however I would use sugar as joey says its cheaper and does the same job...im pretty sure the carbonation drops are just sugar lumps, although they are likely more accurate than the teaspoon method

Sound advice guys cheers I'll be using the sugar now for sure

I use the carbonation drops when bottling, no messing about putting a teaspoon of sugar in every bottle or having to batch prime. never used a plastic keg, I suppose you could use the drops but you'd have to give it a good shaking to get the sugar into the beer whereas granulated sugard would be alot easier to add. noticed your from the Kingdom aswell, you seen the post on the Dunfermline brewday? u fancy coming along at Dunfie's approval!

Aye I'm from Dunfermline but live in lochgelly now, I didn't even know anything was happening, what is it and I'd love to come along cheers
