is 4 days a bit early to expect carbonation on a lager kit opened 1 today and although bottle got firmer(2 ltr pet) it completely flat.

Yeah 4 days is a bit too early. When i bottle, i leave them somewhere warm for at least a week then put them somewhere cold for 2-3 weeks at least before trying them. Trick is to get another kit on the go ASAP, then when your drinking your first kit, then second one is aging well

What you are lacking is patience. You need to give it a week in a warm place so that the yeast produce co2 then another 3-4 weeks somewhere cool so that the co2 is absorbed into the beer. You will probably get away with a couple of weeks but it will taste better if you leave it a while longer. I always find my beer is in peak condition just as I drink the last bottle.

Agree with above posts.

Even though temptation is there, you will do yourself a favour by waiting a while.

When I bottle, I usually use 2 litre PETs plus a few one litres to try. usually after a week it's drinkable and quite fizzy, and after 2 weeks it is really quite fizzy and quite a bit clearer. It has to be said though, I'm still drinking bottles from 2 months or so ago and they taste better every time I open one. Stocking up is definately the way forward!

I know was a impatient, didnt have no beer in lol. going to get an edme lager on wednesday.

Yea I'm the same, that's why I always have a taste after 1 week lol. Haven't tried the EDME lager yet as I just bottled it on Friday but I think it smells like a proper branded beer, whereas the youngs lager kit I did just smelt of nondescript lager.
