As most of you know, I have recently moved from kit to AG. Over the last year of kits, I have been happy with the flavour of everything I have brewed. I do seem to have difficulty in getting the right level of carbonation when bottling. I have a fantastic coopers stout with treacle that's so fizzy it wants to jump out of the bottle, and a IPA that has a bit of life, but won't form a head and looks flat. I have never had a batch that's perfect. I have retired bottle priming, I have tried batch priming, the batch priming I have had the most success with. Where could I be going wrong? I have my first batch of AG to bottle at the weekend, and I want to give it the best start in life I can.

I have brewed only a few extract beers so am not the most experienced but i have had the same problems re carbonation. I have switched to cornie kegs and seem to be having much more luck with that.

Hopefully someone can offer more specifics re bottling... :thumb:

These days when I bottle use about half or a third of a level teaspoonful per pint and bottle after 10 - 12 days when nearly clear.....
The only problems I've ever had with bottled beers was when I used liquid yeasts for bottling..
I find the best for bottle is S-04, S-05 and Nottingham.

I use a 5ml syringe to 'deposit' the priming solution into each bottle. I use DME and I find I have to leave my bottled beers in the house for 3 weeks before moving them out to the colder shed for conditioning. Otherwise I end up with largely flat beer!

Well I used Nottingham, so that's a start. So you prime the bottle not the bucket then?
