carbination drops??

are the coopers carbination drops any good and how many should i use?
the instructions say 1 for a 375ml bottle and 2 for a 750ml bottle (or something like that) but i use 500ml bottles so how many should i use? a friend of mine brewed ipa and put 2 in and it seemed really really fizzy to me? any advice would be really helpfull.
if it helps i brew stout, lager and dark ales mainly.

I use these, mainly because I'm lazy. Just use one per 500ml bottle. Remember these things are australian and they generally prefer their beer a bit fizzier... And colder than we do.

Bloomin' expensive way to buy sugar though.
