Hello all
I’ve been looking to brew a Punk ipa clone after sampling some the other night. Looking around it includes caramalt in the recipe...I can definitely taste a sweet, toffee like undertone in it. Having not long had a malt order I’m wondering if caramalt can be subbed? I’ve got Munich, various crystal,carapils,torriefied..

I believe caramalt is just a light crystal, so carapils or any other light crystal would probably be a perfectly acceptable sub.

You could always brew the original (and possibly better) recipe which doesn't need it and is a bit friendlier on the wallet with its hopping.

brewed it a few year back, with just maris otter (5 ebc), dry hopped it at 14c turned out great, never brewed it again because of the sheer amount of hops! if I fancy it now I just buy a 660ml bottle athumb..

Ah the enigma of the early recipes...
60 - 30ish - whirlpool.
At least thats what I did when I made it.

The newer recipes give the exact timings.
