Not used it but read that it will give body, head retention and obviously a nice red colour. 20% max in batch. Hope thats helpful :thumb:
 
Just made up a brew with some in, smells nice, can't tell you much beyond that though. Colour was more of a brick red than a ruby red though I attribute that to the other malts in the mix.
 
Carared is very popular with Australian home brewers. Not just for Irish red styles but to give a nice 'golden' glow to beers made on Pilsener malts that might turn out a bit too blonde otherwise. Also it can add nicely to malt aroma. If you take a bag of Carared and a bag of ordinary 'cooking' crystal and sniff them, the crystal often smells like something that you would feed to a guinea pig, but the Carared is glorious. I've used 300g of it in a Timothy Taylor Landlord style beer to good effect.
