Car on M1 going the wrong way.... **** me up!!!

Travelling home from Sheffield Saturday night after seeing a show with the family at around 10.30 northbound near Meadowhall a car was going the other way on my side of the motorway.... KIN-HELL..

Thought it was curtains!!!!

Glad you were ok. It amazes me that people can get onto the motorway going in the wrong direction!!!

Glad you were okay. We were on the M61 a few months ago when all the motorway signs came on and said caution vehicle travelling the wrong way. OH nearly crapped herself and I slowed down to about 30 mph. It was a bit scary and we didn't see the vehicle, so I can imagine it was a tad backside tickling for you and the family.

Oldest daughter in the back phoned them, told someone else had also phoned about it....
Strange thing was i didn't realise what had happend until i went sailing by and saw the cars rear lights in my mirror!!
If i'd been overtaking another car and tootling down the inside lane it could have been nasty but because the conditions were bad with mist and rain i was only doing around 50mph...
God must love me????? Or somebody else in the car ... Lol

Had the same think happen to me about 6 months ago on the m4. Have also seen someone revercing back up the exit slip when they noticed they were trying to join the wrong side.

This happens quite regularly on the Autobahns in the south of Germany and in Austria.
They're known as ghostdrivers (Geistfahrer or Falschfahrer).

Cue the old joke.

Husband is driving to work, mobile rings... it's his missus.

"Watch out dear there's a ghostdriver!" says she.

"1! 1! There's 'kin hundreds of them!! " comes the reply.

Had to laugh this summer just gone. Was on the M62 near Pontifract and there was this dude on a cycle off like hell on the hard shoulder.
