Hi Guys

I have just started makng wine and have been using the high end kits like Selection and Eclipse from winexpert etc

I am trying to build a stock quick to age and although i prefer bottles that have had corks, the majority i can get hold off are screw cap

I have put corks in these with a corker without any breakages as i appreciate the screw cap glass is slightly thinner but has anyone got any experience or had issues doing this and using a cork in a screw cap bottle or should it be ok??

I am also sealing with the bottle neck sleaves at the top

Thanks

Is there any particular reason you like corks? I use screw top bottle but put the novatwist replacement bottle top on them.

You will find them if you goggle them, also available on eBay.

Thanks guys
Ive been reading loads on the corks on screwcap bottles etc but as the Winexpert kits are in demijohns for around a month before bottling im not concerned about them blowng out as fermentation is all done
I am more concerned about to much air getting back in or leaking. The corks i have put in all seem ok and on the web opinion varies
I might get a few of the novatwist and try them. Are they reusable as they are not exactly cheap (in the context of 100,s of bottles) that is?

Yes the caps are reusable, the cap and sleeve are joined and you knock it on with your hand then twist the cap to seal the bottle, on the bottles i have the sleeves locked onto the bottles under the threads, when you open the bottle the cap comes away leaving the sleeve in place.
