All 3 of my FVs are being used and 1 brew is ready to be bottled. It's already been siphoned into secondary and been there for 2 weeks so not worried about sediment. Palmer's book says you can add your priming solution straight in and stir, leave 30 min and then bottle, as oppossed to transferring to a bottling bucket. Any problems with this or just go for it?

go for it. :thumb: Like you said, leave it to settle down afterwards. but you should be fine. I always try to keep one FV free as a bottling bucket so that it cuts down on sediment transfer.

Well I have a spare one but it is currently prime suspect in an infection scandal. Until that issue has been fully investigated in is under quarantine. :wha:

I think I might have to. I do have another batch that was brewed in it after the infected brew, just been bottled, not tried it yet. If that is alright then surely it's not the FV?

Do you have sugar?

If lack of a funnel is a problem, make a cone out of paper so it's easier to drop in the sugar.

If I was you I would bottle prime out of fear of stirring up the sediment.

+1 on this. Stirring the beer after doing a secondary seems like it defeats a lot of the purpose of doing the secondary to start with.

Be really, really careful if you are going to add sugar to the bottles. If you drop in too much... BOOM! :)

hmm....might just whack in some sugar, got plenty of brewer's sugar. Got a funnel, so maybe just do that, say 5g per litre, so half a teaspoon per 500ml bottle? I usually batch prime so remind me, are you meant to invert the bottles after capping when you bottle prime?

I cap the bottles wait 10 mins or so and then give them a little shake ( or invert )...depends what music I've got on.... :D

Wipe the top of the bottle after you have put the sugar in if you bottle prime, first time I bottle primed I didn't do that and some of them didn't seal when the cap was put on due to small amounts of sugar being trapped. The beer still tasted good, but it was flat as a flat thing :(

+1 on kitchen funnel. :thumb:
Personally I use 3/4 teaspoon sugar approx  . In a few of my brews 1/2 teaspoon didn't seem to create enough fizz for my liking. :drink:
