My girlfriend bought me a cider making deluxe kit which i have been dermenting for a couple of weeks now and SG is now around 1010 so it should hopefully be ready to bottle soon. I am just wondering if i can add tannin, sweetner, citric acid precip chalk etc... To a shop bought cider kit (not made with fresh apples). Also once bottled is there a certain time to leave them until they are drinkable.

Many thanks chaps! :drink:

Hi there Chrig, she bought me the brewmaker deluxe kit, it just seems lacking in taste and flavour even though it has nearly fully fermented and after adding tannin to my other homebrew cider (made yesterday from proper apples) I feel that adding tannin would give the kit cider a lot more body to it, also it could benefit from some acidity, I just can't find any info on whether it will be ok to adjust the lit cider just before bottling? Any help would be great.

Tannin adds bite, not body.
Give it the standard 2weekswarm2weekscold in bottle and see how it is then, it's too early now to tell what it'll really be like.
If it does lack body, and you do the same kit again, brew it short maybe.
But unless you're chasing a particular flavour that a kit claims to give, TurboCider is just as easy and works really well...
