What is the crisis that the Stop oil people are addressing?
This sums it up perfectly they are getting the attention they seek on TV etc but their message is not getting across because all the news reports concentrate on the disruption they are causing not their cause.

Exactly. What has happened to investigative journalism?

I haven't a clue but back to my point.

Last nights question time discussing the M25 protesters -

something tells me she doesn't have to get her food from a food bank, and it was telling that her father smoked and she didn't want him to die of cancer (lung cancer I presume) - my mother was a smoker and I begged her to stop, my sister still smokes. I came to the conclusion you can't force others to your way of thinking that even includes war.

Imposing your belief system on other human beings is never going to end well and the methods employed by this group immediately get my back up. My set of values are better than yours attitude. These are the attitudes that kill people and stop the harmonious progress of the human race.

People let alone politicians rarely focus on the longer term. I think the Victorian age where they built things to last was the last era we had where people thought about the future in longer terms. Maybe mr musk has a few good long term strategies, I can't see any other capable people stepping up to the plate.

It depends on the weather. One week it's natural disaster, another it's plastics or microplastics, war, warming, poverty, famine, animal rights, equity, .....
The best restaurants now have guilt ratings on the menu and a seedy waiter cowers over to spoil ones enjoyment.

I've skipped a bit of it but..
These shouty people are mostly from well funded backgrounds....I cannot lash myself to the flyover without doing it on my days off.
Idling....that's to do with, especially in Wales, speed humps, chicanes, 20 mph zones and for mostly everything else crap road works and traffic cones.
Those are the reasons.
No reply necessary.

While I agree with the (pretty poor) interviewer that the tactics may not be the best, it's refreshing to see someone actually trying to do something about the **** we're in rather than adopt the attitude of the "Great British Public" and whinge a bit while being trodden into the dirt by our so-called leaders.

All they have achieved is prompted a review by the police into protesting with a view to enacting more draconian laws to prevent legitimate protest.

Just about everyone lecturing us plebs about the climate agenda turns out to be privileged.

As long as she keeps catastrophic climate change at the forefront of the news so that the Bury-my-head-in-the-sand brigade can't pretend it's not very serious then I don't care who's daughter or how privileged she is. Some people will find any excuse to divert attention from the seriousness of the situation. As Al Gore said some while ago now: it's a very inconvenient truth. The naysayers have had their way ever since and look where we are now. Congratulations.

I blame the Romans for building long straight roads it led to the invention of the v8 engine, also the Beverley Hillbillys had an oil lake in the garden, i suppose She walked to Nepal instead of using oil fired transport, at least thunberg did it proper

I believe IF you want to bring people on board you lead from the front and by example. Telling the people to do one thing and then doing another never ends well. Covid partygate for example.

But she's not a leader and our leaders are doing eff all.
So what's a poor girl to do? We haven't got a hundred years to sort this out. Not even ten!

Eat insects
Never use any form of oil or gas propelled vehicle, that includes EVs and Hydrogen and yes, yachts
Never consume anything that has a hint of oil or gas in its manufacture, transport or packaging, including the internet, clothing and holidays
Ensure no plastic consumption, including recycled
Use renewable energy only that doesn't rely on gas or oil for its manufacture, transport, landfill, probably just left with wood as an option
Stop gaslighting the general public for being the source of perceived climate change problems
Ensure our leaders are not also gaslighting or being hypocritical - good luck with that!
Protest in countries that are the far worst polluters on the planet

There's a start.
