Bugs in Hops

Hello all, I was going to do a green hop beer today and just started picking the hops and there are quite a few ants and wood lice coming out of the cones.

If they are left for a couple of hours do you think most of the critters will evacuate?

What do others do about this?

Noticed quite a few woodlice in my hops this year. I don't do anything about them, provided you're not dry hopping they will be going into hot wort which will sort them out.

I just put mine in a 20 litre white bucket and most critters departed/fell to the bottom. Could scoop up cones mostly bug free when it was time to weigh them for the boil...

Great thanks. I was going to do a hopstand with them. But probably boil for 5 instead!
