Ball valve and hop filter fitted in line with rpt's guide, and double lagged with thermawrap and aluminium tape.

Quicker to the boil and no leaks, looking forward to a brew day on Friday!

Just wait until you try to use it

hahaha I am already banished to the garage after the 2nd BIAB steamed the house out!

(smelt lovely... at least I thought so)

I have a brew shed but it was fooking cold out there a while back so I brewed in the kitchen, but boiled outside :thumb:

SWMBO like the smell when mashing but hates the smell when boiling.

hahaha to be fair SWMBO has been fairly tolerant, but during the boil my daughter took to strapping a lavender cushion to her nose  :D

I did mine with a shiny camping mat, first use after it cut out a couple of times. Removing the bottom few inches so the bit below liquid level is uninsulated sorted it out. I'm planning on putting in a couple of extra holes now to keep the area below the boiler floor cool.

I can't recall seeing vent holes in the lid, but I will say yes as the thermawrap covers it, the only time the lid is on is during the mash and I want the heat retained.

I have the lid off for the boil, so again the vents if they are there would play no part.

I'm sure mine has a couple of holes - I'll check when I get home.

I would expect to have the lid off for the boil, but I was thinking when bringing it up to temperature I would want the lid on. It would only be an issue if it starts boiling while I'm not looking.

Mine is also insulated only 'liquid level' upwards and when I use it, it sits on a workmate bench so there's plenty of air circulation, I have never had any problems with the Buffalo cutting out, just bear this in mind should yours cut out :thumb:

rpt, if it starts boiling while your not looking those little vents in the lid wouldn't make the blind bit of difference wether they were covered or not, the liquid would boil out of the buffalo regardless.

Depends how full it is ;)

Very nice work, using the ball valve mod from rpt's thread too? I've ordered the same kit too but it'll be a couple of weeks till I get chance to fit it.
Might look to insulate it too.

The two holes in the lid are very small so I'm not sure how significant they are. I wasn't planning to attach insulation to the lid but to make a lid out of insulation for use while mashing.
