I brewed a small batch (8L) attempt at a brut IPA on Sunday. Checked on Monday and there didn't appear to be any fermentation action. Checked on Tuesday and still nothing. Today I decided to take a reading to see if anything was happening.
Turns out it's gone from 1.045 down to 1.000 ashock1
There was no bubbling through the blow off tube, although there was a little pressure under the lid.
There is very little krausen or even a tide mark. I've never had a brew with so little obvious action.

Has anyone experienced this before? I was wondering if the amalyse enzyme which I added did more than just make it more fermentable.

I would guess that gas maybe escaping through the lid instead of the blow off tube.

I've had a couple of ferments with very little obvious action that have fermented out fine. Not convinced the lids had sealed properly. It probably made no difference to the beer as the carbon dioxide would have sat on the surface and protected it. Thing is I can't remember which buckets it happened with. Must keep an eye on that on future.

It wasn't the lack of airlock activity that surprised me, that can happen, even if I've always had a good seal on this FV.
It was the lack of any other sign of fermentation that surprised me.
It was a fairly standard IPA recipe, just very low volume and added enzymes.
