Nicely done, I can tell by pic no 2 that you batch sparged :D

yea gets a bit cramped in there lol was a bit worried about how much water it would hold but 3 batches seems to do the job
i think il change the filter for another flexihose to free up a bit more space in there spesh as my local b&q have them in there bargain box for 2 quid each and they fit the youngs taps spot on

LOL - I actually meant the grey floury layer at the top - I only ever get that with a batch sparge. :thumb:

Colour looks spot on. I'm going to do a Tyneside Brown attempt to put in a competition next Month and will be doing something similar with the syrup as well. According to Roger Protz in his Ultimate Encyclopedia of Beer, the hops of Newcastle Brown are Northdown, Northern Brewer, Challenger and Hallertauer if you can believe that. Has anyone else heard of this hop combination? Sounds a bit weird to me.

cheers everyone
i havnt got a clue what hops they use Bribie, but the recipes ive seen online seem to all be target and east kent goldings
ive read they make 2 brews and combine them aswell
i boiled off some of the wort in a pan as ive read it caramelises a bit so thought it would add a bit of extra flavour, plus i had too much to put straight in my boiler lol
this was just made with what ingredients i had but il be giving it a go again with the target and ekg and possibly with what you mentioned see whats closest
good luck with the comp :thumb:
