I was going to buy 5kg of brewing sugar from brew2bottle at £9.95. Is it cheaper anywhere else?

But they split the order to 2 x 12.5 kg so it cost £35 shipped to Tiree £1.40 /kg athumb..
But it's £20.30p. with £35 postage that works out at £2.21 a kilo. I'll try but I don't need so much, especially as it might go lumpy.

They offer free postage on orders around £60, so do love brewing (art of brewing). I just order enough stuff to last me about 3- 4 months, and that normally comes to about that price. Problem is no local H/B shops now. :confused.:

@kelper £35 was the total cost! they split the batch to post it and it was food grade Harry Harvey catering dextrose. I do get through a lot though,,, Never had it deteriorate though. Bought July 2019 and BB end June 2020.
I misread your post. That's an amazing price. I will email for a quote. Thanks Druncan.

Carefull Kelper or you will end up like me a sugar\yeast freak.

Joking asside,Knowlege of sugars will stand you in very good stead in this game.

I've started my elderberry port but dissolving 2kg of dextrose meant my volume increased to nearly six litres! Perhaps I could have used less water. Will dextrose slowly dissolve without heat? The ABV is already at 15% and the SG is dropping 8 points a day but slowing down.

Yes it'll dissolve and be consumed by yeast without heat. For example quite a few people save their beer dextrose additions until a few days into fermentation to let the yeast have a go at the more difficult to attack sugars first. I imagine that it would be the same principal for what you're brewing.
