hi all,

I got recommended to come here by a guy on a car forum, site looks excellent btw.

I'm new to brewing, having recently been given the basic kit by my bro and father in law I now have a fermentation bin and 3 kegs as well as some silicone hose. my first attempt was Burton Bridge Porter which is now in a keg clearing (its been in there for about a week) and I have a Geordie Scottish Export on the bin waiting to go into a second keg at the weekend.

it seems i've made 2 bad choices based on the kit reviews section i've just read! oh well! i used granulated sugar in the Porter kit and dextrose in the Scottish Export to see what that is like.

i'll get a third batch on the go as soon as the SE is in a keg, what stouts would people recommend? i saw that the coopers original got good reviews, i chose the Burton bridge porter over this one.

are there any other good stout/porter kits that produce nice beer but arent too difficult to make? as i'm new to the process i dont want to do complicated stuff before i have mastered the basics.

thanks in advance

DKM

First brews, you probably won't notice the difference, so don't worry! As long as your beer comes out tasting decent, you're on the right track to some great home brewing. It's very wise to get used to the processes and any potential problems you can face with your set up before you start making anything too elaborate, so props for that!

Almost all kits are easy to make, you just build them up with boiling water and cold water. The world's your oyster at the moment so whatever you like the look of, go for it! I've never brewed a dark beer so others will have recommendations
