Been setting up for early morning brew tomorrow and considering this as I went along. What do you think (and don't wimp out by trying to walk the fence and not drop on one side!)

lol .. if my wife was doing it, I'd have to agree (thankfully I have several windows open and can hide this quickly!)

Art or craft, it's certainly not a science (though some would have you believe it was).
Craft, although I think that understanding some of the science helps.

I have to agree with Barnsley, it's bloody brilliant when you look at supermarket prices and think how much you're not giving that Darling and his mates.

I haven't got an artistic bone in my body :nono: so it must be science

I somewhat agree Moley, but you don't have to understand it to use it.
:hmm: Understanding some of the science behind it helps to be able to identify what went wrong . .. and how to fix it . . . plus taking that knowledge and reapplying to help you make changes to achieve what you want to without endless years of trial and error.

Come on AM
What does that gobble-de-gook mean in basic anglo saxon?

this is silly. It is clearly both art and science - thats why I love it! Having a masters in microbiology it would appear I am scientific however its being creative that gets me excited and brewing is ideal for it. Some take a more scientific approach, some more artistic but it is the right balance of the two that will produce the greatest beer!

I disagree with all of you brewing is alchemy, where if you get it right you change grain into gold, (coloured lovely tasting beverages)

Its certainly not art, its not big in the Tate or a runner for the turner is it.
