Just got my Leffe-alike Kit although at 9.2 abv its a little stronger than the original's 6.6 abv. Looking forward to getting underway and will follow instructions etc to the letter - then hoping to crack one open December the 24th or so (avoid the C word)

One thing though - was just wondering if I can use PET Bottles or do people recommend glass ones / Grolsch style perhaps. Or indeed I could use some Leffe 750 ml Bottles and clean and cap them ?

Or I will have a PB ready to go soon and could drop it in there though that would tie it up for a few months for the sake of 9 litres

Cheers for any advice / suggestions as usual

Cheers Wp

I normally put my Brewferms in 330ml San Mig bottles.

Personally, I wouldn't use a PB for this type of brew: not enough carbonation nor ability to control serving temp

I have got the advantage of a North Facing garage - where temp by October onwards will be 10 c tops I reckon and lower by December.

Is that likely to be cold enough or are you saying it should be (say) 6c and be kept at that ?

cheers wp

as long as they were designed to hold fizzy drinks they'll be fine.

OK thanks once again - I was remembering that Leffe used to come with "champagne style" cork retainer, though now its a crown cork system - and wondering if PET Bottles (they have been used for carbonated drinks) would be strong enough

The jury seem to say "ok" here so that will be that 9X1 Ltr Bottles ready to go
