I am going to try this wheat beer next. A couple of my mates like Erdinger etc....

Any sugesstions as to what is best to add? Sugar/Spraymalt/Can of extract etc...?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ian

I assume it comes with wheat yeast, but if not, definitely sub out the yeast for a good wheat yeast...white labs make some good ones, munich is easily available.

if I'm not mistaken though, arn't the brewferm kits lower volume and don't require any additional fermentables?

I made mine with wheat dme (500g) and I made some candi sugar for the rest. Added 350g of that (well, I used 350g of sugar, and then the water extra to that, so was probably about 400-450g of candi sugar).

I think it's only the christmas ale that doesn't require any extra fermentables. OG was 1.051 and ended up at 1.012 after 21 days of fermenting at roughly 22.5'c...

During fermenting and bottling etc, the taste was really horrible imo... I thought it had probably gone off (was only my 4th brew), but I stuck with it, and left it. After 2 weeks cold conditioning, it still taste quite bad imo. But, after about 10 weeks, it came out really nice. Now, at about 14 weeks, there's only a couple of bottles left! Shame... Would get more on, but too much left to brew, and others I want to brew :p
