Hi,

Just a quick one. I am starting a Brewferm Keik kit tomorrow but the only FV I have is 25L and the kit makes 12L. Is using this size going to give me a problem?

Thanks

Get your yeast going a good 12-24 hours before, and get it out of the bucket as soon as it's done fermenting to stop it getting infected. headroom is an issue, but not really during fermentation, so if you give it a head start and remove it straight after, you will be okay :)

I don't see any problem what-so-ever... or am I missing something?

Is the Krieg kit renowned for going off like a firecracker?

when you have a few litres of headspace, you've got a nice blanket of co2 to sit on there. if you pop the bucket open, it doesnt take long to build it back up and be protected again.

if you pop it open when you've got 12 litres of headroom, it'll take considerably longer, and that leaves it open to all sorts of airborne nasties, particularly before and after fermentation. you're fine to have a peek of your full batches every now and then, but do it with a lot of headroom and you can easily spoil it - trust me, personal experience :p
