So, bottled my most recent Saison today. I'd noticed though that it wasn't smelling quite hoppy enough for my liking (I only went to 17 Tinseth this brew, where usually I go way higher in a Saison, usually around 34 Tinseth). Whilst browsing for some hops to give it a nice dry hop with, I spotted the Peach Melba Brewferm Hop Sensation, and thought what the heck. Put the whole sachet into the bottling bucket (18 litres of beer) just before adding sugar solution (had to be careful not to splash whilst adding, as normally I put the solution in then add the beer to this) so I could take a flavour/aroma sample before adding sugar.

Smells gorgeous! It's definitely added a nice amarilloish aroma, and a little more "hoppiness" to the flavour too, without any hop matter etc clouding the beer. Maybe not comparable to a huge dry hop though, so you'd have to weigh the price vs guaranteed absence of hop matter from a dry hop if you wanting a heavy hit. My wife reckoned it left her mouth watering, and my mouth was certainly watering from the aroma whilst I bottled.

Been Amarilloish, it complemented the actual hopping, as I kettle hopped with Pilgrim, Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo.

I'll be using it again though, I like what it does and how it does it. I hate the mess I end up with dry hopping. It's not better value than dry hopping though, so if good value is more important to you then it's hard to recommend this to you.

Looking forward to tasting this once it's carbonated, as right now it's quite thin bodied and very dry (it went all the way down to 1.000, from 1.050, thanks to mashing at 64 degrees C). Should make for a really refreshing summer beer, with a surprising kick to it . lol

Oh, and an important note, it's not at all peach. Not the flavour, not the aroma, so where the Peach Melba name comes from is anybodies guess.
