Just made up my 1st every Home Brew Beer Batch last night as I've been a Turbo Cider guy up to now, done a bit of research on here 1st and plumped for the Brewferm Gallia (was thinking the Grand Cru / Diabolo initially but didn't want something to blow my socks off) I decided to double up so did 2 cans and made it up to 24litres in one fermenting bin.

followed the instructions to the letter, even rehydrating the yeast! apart from when i added the fermentable sugars i put in 500g Dextrose and 500g of Ritchies Brew Enhancer, instead of the full 1kg of sugar the recipe asked for, I was thinking as this is a higher end kit it deserves better help on its journey than just Morrisons own Caster Sugar. I have got to be honest it smelt amazing when making it up, very much like a strong Holicks. I'm presuming there’s a lot of malt in both the tins and the enhancer.

my only slight worry is that i was expecting a SG of around the 1054, but it only read 1046 ( probs closer 1044 in all honesty but i'm a glass half full kind of guy)

I was hoping for a 5% or just over at the finish, but its looking like I'm going to struggle for 4.5% at this rate.

From what I've read, and with how it smells I recon this will be made again in the future and want to get the best out of the kit. Has anyone done this Kit in the past? and have any pointers for sugars etc have you got for next time.

PS, i hear leaving it bottled for a couple of months before trying it is the way forward. any comments?

obviously i will keep you updated with the progress
