Soz it this has been raised before :wha:

A fair few members on here work/own or help out around commercial brewing outfits and it's got me wondering :hmm:
If I had the privilege of seeing a breweries secret recipe I'd be tempted to try one at home using my DIY thrown together from bits 'N' bob's brewery just to see if the resulting brew is the same or better.

I'd also love to know if there's be a big difference in taste using good old S-04 instead of the breweries strain. :hmm:

Any help with this guys??

I can answer that one and it's an emphatic yes. Why not try a liquid strain you'll be amazed at the difference over standard yeasts like US 04. I've done taste comparisons at home and you would have said you were drinking 2 completely different beers...seriously, that's the gulf of difference :thumb:

EDIT, must point out that US 04 is a super yeast and in some beers it's as good as liquid strains, but in ales it's limited as to the flavour it imparts.

The choice of yeast will make a massive difference to the beer. I once had a tasting of three different beers, each the same wort but fermented with different yeasts. The results were remarkable.

But you'd be suprised how many (smaller) micros use S-04.

Sorry I can't say more.
