I finally got round to doing a brew today (although it was only a kit) - Brewers Choice ESB but I couldn't resist playing with it a bit  .

I made up a Wyeast Thames Valley 1275 Starter with some of the spray malt on wednesday night and it was going really well in the airing cupboard this morning so i decided that today was the day! I made up the Hop Tea with the 'Tea bags' as instructed but added 10g of Styrian Goldings to the last batch for 20mins, smell was amazing

I used Brupack amber malt and topped up with filtered water to 18ltrs. The temp was still sitting at around 40 degC so had to cool it by standing the FV in a big bucket and running cold water though it as a sort of bath cooler. This worked surprisingly well and i pitched the starter after aerating the wort and topped up to 23 ltrs. At 20degC the gravity was 1052 :thumb: .

Its now sitting in the utility at 23degC with a good 3/4" of foam on the top so hopefully it'll turn out alright!

I am planning my AG setup at the moment but I need to stock up as I think there'll be plenty to 'think-about-over-a-beer' moments to come before AG#1 is ready.

Ok Brew seemed to have turned out ok though i thought it was gonna stick at 1.020 - just gave it a stir and it kicked off again.
Just transferred it to another FV with a tap for bottling in a few days time. SG came down to 1.012 so i'm happy with that :D as for the taste I've only done a couple of kits so can't really tell whether it'll turn out ok or not.

The bit left in the bottom of the FV i transferred into my yeast starter pot and added 50g of spraymalt and a litre of water, do you think this will start again? I'm planning on another batch end of next week so do i need to do anything else with it or can i just pitch it as it is?

Thanks
Russ
