Brewdog in Birmingham was awarded the hygine rating of ZERO from the council.

Very dissapointed as I always thought the place was quite respectable.

They must have found an excess of beard hair in the burgers. :-(

How the hell do you get a 0! I thought even dodgy kebab places managed to get a 3 or 4.

Must have found a dead rat in the kitchen or something.

It was previously a 3 and has been torn apart apparently. Just checked, the one in Newcastle is a 5, so it seems even at a 3 they needed to buck their ideas up.

If that made it all over social media, they'd have a PR nightmare on their hands.

[contemplates posting on facey] :hmm:

Go on. You know you want to. Stick it on twatter too. "Cry havok and let slip the dogs of bad PR!"

I'm guessing they'll have a few questions around this at the AGM tomorrow. One of their other bars (can't remember which) had a poor rating previously, and the company were mightily pissed off. Despite how they present themselves, they really do pride themselves on doing things well and properly.

EDIT:

They released a statement to their shareholders this morning:

The site was visited as part of a review of pest control issues in the neighbourhood and as a result of issues with the fabric of the building and also empty neighbouring buildings there was work that needed to be done to ensure that risk of pests in the building was being properly managed. A full food hygiene visit actually didn't take place and the kitchen and back of house processes and procedures didn't get checked, the visit was purely on pest control. The site had to ensure that any gap in the fabric of the building that may cause issues was filled in and there were quite a lot of areas that needed addressed. The site had a full pest control contract and visit schedule in place with a history of monthly checks and action taken but it was deemed by the EHO that the building had too many potential areas that could have a risk of pests and therefore the automatic result that is granted is low. BrewDog now employ an external food safety and H&S auditing company and has made serious steps forward in this regard over recent months. Birmingham was visited two weeks ago by the external auditor and received an absolutely excellent food hygiene score. The EHO has been invited to come and re-score the site.

I already commented on Twitter direct to brewdog Birmingham, no reply.

If it's just the fact the 'skin' of the building would allow pests in. Then all establishments must be low scored. What with a rat being able to squeeze through the smallest of gaps.

They must have bricks missing.

I think a few buildings in the area have had the same issue. Does seem quite harsh if there was no real evidence of pests within the BrewDog establishment.

This is birmingham they're everywhere, lob a brick out of your back door at night and there's every chance it will land on a rot.

Or a badly parked car ;-)

It's not that bad here. Rats are everywhere, as are feral pigeons and cats. I have a Fox den at the back of my garden and the vixen isn't scared of anything.

If you were out in the cold, you'd be looking for a warm place to stay. I think there must be more to the issue than just a few bricks missing or uncapped pipe work.

It's just a good job that with all the hops, the beer will still be bug free. Not sure hops can kill weils disease though. :-(
