Brew fridge

Any ideas how to go about making some sort of unit to put my fv in to maintain constant temperature please..

First step would be to get a cheap or free fridge off of gumtree or freecycle or something. Then the easiest way would be to buy an Inkbird controller and tube heater.

Yep. Just plug the fridge and tube heater into the Inkbird, set your desired temperature and off you go.

The Inkbird goes into the mains socket and the fridge goes into it. You don't need the fridge plugged in it's just in case the ambient temperature gets too high or the heater overshoots your set temp.

Thanks I thought u just put the tube heater into the Inkbird and not bother putting fridge on .

The inkbird works a treat and has even kept my brew fridge down at 2-3 degrees for lagering. Simple as plugging it in, then plugging both fridge and heater into the inkbird and away you go.

Would not look back from it.

Only suggestion I would have is is you get the chance of a larder type fridge or 3/4 size go for it. you can then pop and FV in and carb bottles at the same time! :)

You could just run the heater through the inkbird, but typically you plug both the fridge and the heater both into the inkbird. You set your required temp (say 18°C) and the inkbird will kick the heater on if the temp drops below 18 and would kick the fridge on if the temp climbs above 18 (unlikely this time of year).

Although both heater and fridge are both plugged into the inkbird, the inkbird would only power one at a time to maintain your desired temperature.

Do you just drill hole in fridge to run tube heater cable out is it ?

I removed the plug from the tube heater and fed it through the drain hole at the back of my fridge. It was a moulded plug though so I had to buy a cheap replacement (87p I think in screwfix.)

Risk of infection and it can create hotspots in your brew if the heater is right in it.

The best way would be to put the aquarium heater in a water bath to keep your brew temp.

See I put it in the wort and wondered if there was a possibility it would work ok. I'm bottling tomorrow so I guess time will tell.
