Looking for a fermentation fridge. Would consider any size. Bigger the better ideally, but must be able to fit 33l bucket rather than 25l.

Try your local recycling centre people buy new fridges every day and dump perfectly working items if it doesn't work just recycle it for free

I'm not in a huge rush. Just wanted to see if anyone was getting rid of one that was ready converted. I'm not the best at DIY but I'll have a crack at it if one doesnt come up for sale

@mmaguy41 get yourself a second hand fridge that fits your needs and an Inkbird, as well as either a tube heater or heat pad and you should be away. The Inkbird will control whether the fridge or heater is on based on the temperature settings you set. Not DIY needed, just plug and play.

Cheers, Nick

I thought even this required some drilling and wiring etc I've watched some tutorials. I think I probably am capable of it but try and stay away from wiring etc whenever possible. Also terrified of buying a fridge and then drilling through something and ruining it

I have 3 brew fridges and none are hard wired, just have the temp controllers on top of the fridges and plug in the fridge to the cold outlet and then plug the heat mat/belt in the heat outlet and then put the mat/belt into the fridge via the door also with the heat probe (they all close perfectly)

So you just shut them in the door? All the videos I've seen involves wiring the heater and fridge into a control unit.

As Banbeer says, no drilling or wiring required. If your fridge door doesn't seal with a wire in you may have to cut a section of the seal. Other than that shouldn't be a hassle.

I'd suggest as thick a sheet of ply as you can slide into the grooves for a shelf and try to test it with a FV full of water. It's far less dramatic than when full of beer!

Cheers, Nick

@mmaguy41, try the online sites. Freecyle, Ebay, Facebook marketplace, etc.

Failing that keep an eye out down local streets. I got mine recently from 2 roads over. I'm in Cheshire also, so will drop you a message if I see anything worthwhile.

Cheers, Nick

I managed to get the sensor and heater cables through the drain at the back of the fridge, much more sanitary than having cables out the door, although maybe I was lucky!!

I find Facebook Marketplace a good place for a used fridge and was going to build my own fermentation fridge looked on Ebay for a foot long 40w Tube (Greenhouse) heater and they are cheaper in Toolstation and a quality make, Dimplex at £14.98 if your interested product code is 17033 , hope this helps?
