Just thought I'd tell you about my first All grain brew that happened at the weekend. I've done a couple of beer kits and a real cider before but thought it was time to progress. A friend helped me alot with both the equipment and knowledge. I wanted to make a beer similar to Badgers Golden Champion as I love that beer so found some recipes on another forum and adapted them a bit based on what I could get hold of and what my friend had available. Anyway the recipe I used was

4.5kg Maris Otter pale malt
250g Caramalt
250g Munich malt

30g Bobek Styrian goldings
5g Hallertauer Mittelfruh
5g Hallertauer Hersbrucker
20g Dried elderflower

Safale s-04 yeast

I don't know the exact method as my friend helped me alot but I do know I ended up with 23l with an OG of 1.042. It's bubbling away nicely under the stairs as I type at a pretty constant 18c.

We also brewed a lager for my friend that day so it was a long and fruitful days brewing. I'll let you all know how it gets on in the coming weeks.

Good work hads! Nice recipe, love to know if you can taste that elderflower!

Doesn't Golden Champion have peaches in it? I'm not a big fan of Badger beers, they all seem to taste like old socks to me, but thankfully we all have different tastes. I know there's a couple of Golden whatsits from Badger so I may have the peach thing wrong!

Nice work though ... pics are good if you can do 'em!

Well played.

I always thought that Badger tasted of badgers. Luckily, I like badgers.

Party time in a few weeks - enjoy.
