Kit comes with grain, hops, yeast, milton tablets and distructions.

Mashing slightly higher as instructions as Ive been advised its close to 70 shilling but more chocolate than toffee.

Ill update as it goes along.

It is Bonnie Lass Brown ale. Ive tried to edit the title but its not changed.

Anyhow after an hour boil, I got it chilled to 22c in about 1/2 hour. Not much turb in the pan. OG 1.030, mo 3 yeast pitched at 22c.

Bottling this brew this morning. Im short of the ABV by .4% Im getting 3.6%. But my little sneaky sample tastes good.

It's a good way to get started but it's a costly way to make beer in the long run. More than a quid a bottle. You can make AG for 25p a bottle, or less (I calculated 13p once), once you are up and running. Recipes can easily be converted to any size you want, then buy the ingredients you need separately.

I calculated 31p a bottle for my first batch and less for my second, but I can't remember what it worked out as now. I want to work out the complete cost including gas/electric use as well... because I like to know boring stuff like that

Totally agree clibit. I would recomend anyone to try small kits 1st, this is my second and last. Follow instructions and get a tastey beer.
Your Smash is another good step and allows experiments. And if they go wrong only a couple of quid down the drain.
