Hey guys :thumb: ,

Wondering if you guys keep a calender of your brews - e.g. times when brewing started, finished, when it needs to be racked etc etc - or do you just keep it in your head?

Cheers!

Beersmith is kind enough to do all that for me ;)

but in addition i put sticky labels on the fermenters/kegs with the date that they were put in it so i dont forget how long it's been in there :D

since summer time i have started putting post-it notes on my demijohns, with dates for starting, racking etc. eventually they'll all be transferred to a little book with comments about how good they were. the idea being i'll have a better idea of how long a wine needs to condition .... eventually

I have a diary in which i write down the recipe and brew details. I also jot down notes etc throughout my brew. This tells me when it got brewed, when it went into FV, when it got racked, what it tasted like and what i'd do to improve it next time. :ugeek:

I find it comes in really handy when i want to reproduce a brew that i liked. I also find it comes in very handy for the maturation period of beers as not all of my beers actually need 1 week per point-especially Spearmint wino's fabulous Gail Porter recipe. That's ready to drink after a week. But some need a lot more-Shelob's Sting needs 8 weeks to reach a nice condition.

I keep a diary of my brews but that's it.
I simply record my findings and don't run brews using it, for instance, I have no set time in primary, keg, etc.
I let my tongue tell me when a beers tastes good to me, not convention
