Just got back into brewing again and bought a bunch of seven gallon brew buckets. I cant remember how they were shipped but one way or another they were unboxed. I dont know if i t was myself or my wife who stacked them in one another with nothing inbetween them. I remember it was important to not scratch them while cleaning them. My question is will stacking them in one another scratch them enough to damage them and cause a batch to end up bad? I looked with a flashlight and think i saw some light scuffing. Did i screw uo?

Mine came stacked. I think if you stack them covered in gritty bits off the floor won't help. You can bet they're stacked for shipping and storage too as they'd take too much space otherwise.
I'd also say that I've had mine years and even though I use a non metal kitchen sponge type thing to clean them sometimes and I'm careful,I bet they've got some minor scuffs.

I have always been nervous about stacking because as Clint says of the gritty bits you are bound to pick up off the floor

I have been able to hang them all from the beams in my garage when not in use by screwing in some hooks into the beams

Not an expensive solution but you do need the room of course

The thing about scratches is that they can harbour germs/stray yeast cells - so the key is meticulous cleaning is the key
