So, I did a Caxton's real ale (delicious!) and bottled the last half from a keg, hoping that the fizz would remain if I capped quickly enough. It hasn't really lasted long enough to give any head, and there's only a tiny amount of CO2 in the liquid. Is it even possible to bottle fizzy beer from a keg, and have it fizzy when you open the bottles, instead of priming? If so, would anyone care to share tips?

If you are bottling from a plastic homebrew keg then the short answer is no if you want sediment free carbonated beer.
If you have a corny then you will need to over carbonate slightly, chill down both the beer and the bottles and use 3/16" tubing from black disconnect, set the regulator to about 2psi and fill the bottles slowly and cap quickly :thumb:

Actually you don't ;) they work very well bottling direct from the FV . . . I've bottled from FV using syphon action and the beer gun and it works very well. . . . . I would suspect that you could use it in a similar way to a little bottler as well If you really wanted to

 :hmm: Of course if you have fermented your Lager at 9C and then crash cooled to 0C, you have plenty of Dissolved CO2 left in the FV . . .;) .. .. Clear carbonated beer . . . Not necessarily Carlsberg Fizzy, but authentic Bohemian Pilsner Fizzy
