I'm wanting to bottle from a plastic keg I have been dry hopping with Columbus but the hops are loose. Can I put muslin over the tap to bottle through so I don't get hops in the bottle? Can you sanitise muslin or is there another technique which would be better?

I also need to bottle it soon cos it has been dry hopping for 9 days. I wanted to bottle earlier I've been held up some what!

Thanks

As a rule dry hops should not be added to kegs loose. Always put the dry hops in a muslin bag 1st before adding to the keg. You might have problems bottling as the dry hops could get stuck in the tap blocking it. Personally i would use a syphon to bottle because then you could always lift it out the keg and unblock if needed

Thanks for that. I'll know for next time.

Do I need to try and filter them with muslin on the pipe or should the hops create a filter inside the keg?

chances are your pipe will block so as you thought put a muslin bag round the end , boil the bag for a good 5 mins first to clean it then syphon :)
