Morning everyone,

Bottling a Top Dog clone Stout today and I am unsure about the priming.

I ve got 23 litres and looking at a conditioning temp of 18 degrees

Was thinking about using either brown sugar or white unless you folk can advice differently.

I have used the priming calculators and find they under carb.

I do like a good carbed stout.

100 grams should provide plenty of carbonation. Type of sugar isn't really crucial, it's about 4 grams per bottle, it's just to provide a bit of CO2.

Priming calculators do work once you get used to different volumes of CO2 via trial and error.

I primed my bottles of stout with a dark brown sugar, not sure if it made any difference but there is little in the way of carbonation and it comes out a bit flat.

The priming calculators tend to give you amounts of sugar by style of beer. So if you like your stout with bit more fizz (e.g. like a lager rather than a british ale) just give it the sugar for the style you like. It's your beer after all.
