Is it ok to use clear bottles or should it be green or brown.

You can use clear bottles, BUT you must store them somewhere dark - if exposed to the light, the hops can react and 'skunk', spoiling the beer.

The brown bottles are better as they cut out most of the light, and are less susceptible to the skunking problem.

I use clear bottles for stout, but wrap each one in a black paper napkin.
