I've just started another brew. As recommended by a member I've gone with dark rock IPA with enhancer. Anyway, I'm going over to PET bottles mainly because of the breakages using my caphammerything. Anyway I was just drinking one of these from Tesco for a quid and I thought "ya no what? 24 of these costs the same as my plastic bottles plus you get beer!!
Anyways the point of this post wasn't to tell you that story so sorry about that. The point is......well.....for all you bottle people this might be the future!! Cheap bottles at Tesco for a quid with free beer ,that's actually not too bad!

Yeah any good sources? I know glass is much better but I drink them too quick and the pet bottles make more sense timewise.

That's how I got most of my bottles, beer from Aldi, if you use a decent capper with a lever you won't break any.

Exactly...win win.. buying the bottles you get beer too.

That’s how I started my bottle collection. But one thing I’d say about the plastic PET bottles, they are excellent for IPA’s They allow you to squeeze the sides bringing the beer to the top of the rim then screw the top on.. this expels all the air which in turn stops the beer loosing its hop character.. Works for me to have both on hand.

What you need is a rubber hammer. And stand the beer on wood/plastic.

Ps, its a tap. Don't swing the hammer above your head and stop watching roadrunner on YouTube

I have been using a rubber mallet and a folded tea towel under the bottle. The last batch I lost 3 and this batch the same

I think you need an upgrade to your crown corker.

3 bottles per batch is not only too dangerous, but also a high wastage.

If you take them off flat (do not bend them) you can reuse them.

Just boil quickly, before use. Snap them on and reseal.

Get a capper. I have a two handle one, that I could not get on with.

I know a tiny Italian guy who can do caps in one hit... They bottle tomatoes.

I buy sparkling water in 2 litre bottles from Aldi cus I like to drink it cold from the fridge. Then I use them for home brew. Then I use them for gardening, including storing water in the greenhouse to even up temperature fluctuations.
