ok guys
i got 40 500ml pet green bottles filled up

i put a teaspoon of sugar in each bottle then added beer ,looks a bit cloudy at moment but keep in dark for a week and check on them

Keep them somewhere warmish for a week, then a couple more weeks somewhere cooler - it'll give the beer time to absorb the CO2 it has created, meaning it'll stay in the beer better rather than just going "whsssshssshhht" and all coming out when you open the bottle!

then why bottle it now ? Its hard as we all know but try and give the beer some extra time when it appears to have finished fermenting before you bottle. The clearer in the FV then the clearer it will be in the bottle.

Says he who christened one of his bottled brews " muddy waters ".

it cleared in the bottle though. :thumb:

You'll want to keep those in the dark or you'll get funky skunky flavours. Light and hops aren't friends and green doesn't take out the wavelength that does it so well as brown...

what BEERS are OK in clear bottles ? bearing in mind they only survive a month or two at the most

As I understand it, those beers that come in clear bottles use some clever hops or hop extract which doesn't break down in sunlight.

We generally don't have access to that tech, so it's brown bottles or dark cupboards for our beer.

thank you kindly I always use brown pet bottles but have collected a few clear ones that I use as sample bottles of each brew so I can keep an eye on how clear its getting etc its usually the first one drunk as a control sample.
