Bootsale find.

Hi guys.

I've just purchased a Young's Bitter Kit... everything still in the box for £5 at my local boot sale. Problem is, the sell by date on the tin is Oct 2011. Has anyone every brewed a kit this long out of date?

I'm tempted just to try it anyway, without too much expectation. Any advice would be great.

Why not, not a lot to lose! Might be worth replacing the yeast though.

I'm hoping to pick up some oldies myself today. I found this post which was a little reassuring.

Jeltz, I'm definitely going to replace the yeast with some Muntons I have at home.

Mark, I've read that post, now not so worried.

Not a lot to lose, so I'm going to go for it!

nowt to lose but the time it takes you to make it. You got plenty bottles/ a spare keg? Go for it, certainly won't do you any harm and will hopefully be drinkable :thumb:

I have plenty of bottles, I'm going to hope for the best and just brew it.

Brew it. I got a wherry from a second hand market which was 4 year out of date. Just buy some more yeast. I added some hop to it. It tastes spot on.
