Can anyone recommend a boiler for a upcoming AG brewer? I have heard talk of using tea urns? Looking for around 30ltr capacity at the moment I shall be using a seperate Mash tun when it comes to it..
I'm completly open to suggestions and on a mid range budget would like a thermostat in the system as well.
Many Thanks :hmm:

You don't need a thermostat on a boiler, all it has to do is boil!! If you look in the home brew shops there is any amount of boilers. Or you could buy a stainless steel stock pot and convert it yourself
look here

Or you could follow the guide above and use a 30L polypropylene fermenting bin as the vessel.

It'll work just as well :D
It just won't be as robust or shiny :(
And when you do build a shiny boiler you will have be able to use the plastic one as your hot liquor tun :thumb:

I must get my finger out and convert my 50L stockpot

I will when I get round to it ;)
At the moment it serves as a riser for my three tier system

Tut tut tut TS, that is degrading work for a stainless stock pot :nono:
I know, I know, but I believe in the apprenticeship system and it's serving it's time

Ok Now looking at making my own out of an FV with twin element and Thermostat (Now going to be HLT as well) I'm now looking for what type of threaded ball valves I should be using (they are for fixed plumbing so easier to connect to), Have I got to use stainless one's or can others be used?

You don't need stainless . . . I use nickel plated brass ones in mine . . . and the fittings that I screw them into are brass . . . the new brewery I am accumulating the bits for will be pretty much predominantly stainless . . . because I want it so . . . Those bits that re brass in teh new kit will be replaced by Stainless . . . Why brew on the same kit twice?

Right that's it  In one month from today I will have built a shiny plastic brewery and you will see the outcome on here, Having read most of peoples articles on here, It's not hard to build! There will be pic's and story to follow. Looks like i'm going to be brewing alot!

It's a great feeling to be able to serve a great pint that you brewed yourself :)
It's even better if it's brewed using kit you built yourself :D
