Last week I bought a temp controller for my new hlt after Christmas so that the kettle elements can be controlled. I've fixed it to the wall and measured the garage temps with the probe........ :D

I've kept saying to myself I wish I could try the control function out.......for 3 days I've been saying that......

I've just thought if I turn the internal thermostat up to full on my old tea urn boiler. plug it into the controller...er it should work..... :? :? :?

How stoopid can you get......!!!

will have a play later.

Fascinating to watch the temps as the controller switches the elements on and off. As much as 67-7 degrees difference to the set temperatures
Makes a bit of a mockery with brewing soft wear saying temps of strike water to be ( say ) 75.9C....... :D :D

Is that 67-7....should that 70c. That's a big range.

I think it was 6-7 degrees different from the temperature you actually set :)

sorry my mistake typing should read 6-7 degrees difference from set temp.

I use a ATC800+ for my ferm fridge....and that only has +..- 1c
Can't you set yours to something like that?

I meant on this test which used the tea urn boiler with its own element, I bypassed its internal thermostat and controlled it by the tlz-11. As it switched the elements on and off, there was probably 6 degrees of " play " in the water temps as it went up and down accordingly.
The set point can be set to point one of a degree but there's always going to be a delay in the water temps reacting to it, unless you fit a cooling device in the hlt as well of course.
