Hi all,

I'm looking at starting to brew my own beer, I've not got any kit yet, but would like suggestions on the best route to go for brewing bitter malt extract kits?

Hopefully I'll move on to all grain brewing some time in the future.

Cheers Jim

Hi mate and welcome.
Have you thought of just going straight into AG? Its what I did and I've done three brews so far, all looking pretty good!

Not sure about your specific question, but if you don't know, there's an excellent home-brew shop (Something Brewing) next to the bookies on St Albans road in St. Annes. He's open every day except Sunday and Wednesday as far as I know. Wilko's in town sells some stuff too. There's also a chap in Thornton, off Fleetwood Road North, but I don't find myself up that way very often so I don't know if it's any good.

Thanks for the info on the local shops I might just give them a look. I'd heard wilkos were ok for a few bits of kit.

Wilko is great for basic equipment and a few kits, if you know what you want. They are probably overdue a sale, at the moment, at which time they are very good value indeed if you have easy access to one. (For instance there is one on the first floor of the Arndale in Manchester). Would not recommend asking for advice on HB in Wilko though.
