Hello all,
I'm Kev and I live in Consett County Durham (sometimes called Hillbillyland) and my main HBS is in Durham indoor market.
Technically i've been brewing since I was 17 but only because I brewed 40 pints of mild with a mate once  . Anyhoo I've started again and recently got round to buying a pressure barrel and I'm brewing up a batch of IPA to see how it goes. At the mo I'm just using single can kits but as I learn more I might just go on to more complex brewing.
I had been looking around for info on pressure barrels (of which there is surprisingly little on UK sites :wha: )and came across this wonderful site !!
I've learned a lot already and look forward to asking some really dumb questions so that other dullards like myself can be put back on the right path :thumb:

Thanks in advance for the welcomes guys.

Kev

Yep your right its loverly up here, I grew up in Grimsby but moved up here with the missus (she was born here), and I've always loved the place plus as a bonus unlike Grimsby you can breath the air up here lol.

Welcome Kev...

I too am a single can kit man, mostly, gives me lots of options to enhance them with difefrnet sugars or additional hops, whereas with a two can kit I just don't think i can risk the cost... but it's only a short hop over to the dark side, AG, where I'm reliably informed you never look back from... :D

Thanks for the welcome 31bb3, adrianmole72, Grumpy Jack and evanvine

Isn't there a good Real ale pub in Consett called The Grey Horse with its own brewery ? Stephen

I cant recall one but then I'm not a big pub goer (I'll have to ask one of my 2 elder daughters they'll know lol), but it's definately worth some investigation.

It's mostly due to what's available up here as the only place I can go is Durham indoor market so my options are limited there however I know what you mean about different sugars I'm thinking about priming my IPA with demerara sugar (but I'll have to find out how much I'll need to use compared to normal sugar) :hmm:
As for AG it seems a bit scary from the outside but providing I can set up the gear and get the ingredients (probably online using paypal) then I can see me getting into that at some point.

Thanks again everyone  Kev
