Come on guys 'n' gals, tonight's first task in the mole hole is to peel and pickle a net of shallots.

What tips can you offer for peeling onions etc. without tears? :cry:

Getting Mrs. Mole to do them doesn't seem to be an available option.

I usually peel mine under a running tap......not the most environmentally sound practice though.

Lots of old wives tales on this I'm sure......sucking a spoon seems to spring to mind as one of them.

Job done, it probably helped that I soaked the skins overnight, and also that I now wear specs more of the time for close work. An occasional little snivel but no real blahtin'. Salted now for another night.


My son just came to tell me to turn the music down :shock:
17 year old lad and HE tells ME to turn it down.
Isn't that the wrong way around? :hmm:
I wouldn't mind so much but his room isn't even above the kitchen.
I'm almost ashamed of him some times.
