My second brewday and moving up from a coopers canadian blonde brewed with 1kg of brewing sugar to a Better Brew Northern Brown Ale Kit made with 1kg of coopers beer enchancer 2. Since the Better Brew range seems to be getting good reviews thought I'd try this one next and since I kept brewday one simple I used brew enchancer on this one. Used still water from asda as our water in the tap is bad with chlorine, but this led to one slight problem, made the beer up to 24 litres as was keeping track of the 2 litre bottles of water and forgeting the 2.1l of kit I had in. We live and learn. OG came out at 1037 so should come out ok as a nice session beer. The plan is do do a few more kits later in the year, with a couple of extracts later on before the dark side tempts me :-)

Me and CalumScott love the BB kits

( check 'brewdays' to see what I've just bought today ;) )

Iits hard to pick the next kit as these all look good, make make the IPA next

Bottled this last night, cleaning and sterilising bottles has to be the most time consuming and boring part of the process only helped by having a bottle tree that SWMBO got for my birthday along with this kit which helped a lot. For some reason I had it in my head that this was going to be infected, for no reason so was glad when I looked in prior to bottling that it was just fine.

FG was 1012 and with OG of 1037 this should come out about 3.3%, due to my over indulgence with the water. Already the wee sip from the trial jar far better than the canadian blonde I done first with the smell being very different, none of that yeasty alcohol smell, if I can describe it. Looking forward to this

This was my last brew, really nice to drink too (although my gf doesnt really like darker ales, so im doing a coopers wheat beer today!) Youll plough through this one in no time!

Hsd a couple of bottles of this last night and wow the difference between this and the Canadian blonde night and day. A fantastic pint nice mouth feel and in my "mind" as good as a bottle of Newcastle brown ale. Next up on the brewing my first 2 can kit. Bought 2 woodfordes wherrys in the great tesco sale
