I have just been having a tidy up in my brew cupboard. Have purchased some containers to put my crushed Malts in rather than leave them in there plastic bags. I noticed one went out of date in December 2010 and most of the rest have until September 2011. Will they be OK or do I need to start brewing lots of beer.

I`m sure they`ll be ok but................................................................................................................

BREW MORE BEER MAN!!

Just looked at the date of a bag of black malt, september 2009, used some 2 brews ago, no problem.

All mine, except the MO, are at least 6 months out of date and still using them to make brews.

When in doubt I give the malt a sniff & then taste some. If it seems fine, then its fine :thumb:

I think in general the roastier the malt the longer it will last.
I've got some roasted barley which is probably over 2years old and it looks, feels, smells and tastes fine.
