Best before on Briess LME

If just started my all extract hefeweizen and having added the LME I've had a look at the bottom of the tub. Am I right in thinking that the bottom number is the best before?

Is my LME over 3 years old!? I only got it on Friday.

That's the canning date Dec 13.It will be fine.

Ah still a bit old but not as bad as I'd thought then. I initially thought the top number was saying it'd been packaged in 2009!
