So whats your favorite ale for pies and stew???

Im having a pie party tomorrow and would like to try some differnt ales....

I've used Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout to great effect in a stew :) Ended up really rich and moreish.

We made a stew this week and put Gales Festival Mild in it, brilliant :thumb:

Washed it down with a pint of the same just for good measure :drink:

I used two bottles of Old Tom in a steak and ale pie - it was beautiful.

Cool!

Are you making the pie with ale? Drinking ale with pie? or both?

In my opinion, I would use a different beer with each pie, and have the same ale served with the pie. SO its an ale off! That way you work out which ones you like the best.

Thats the plan!

3 pies:

1 steak with old peculiar
1 steak with McEwans Champion
1 chicken and scrumpy

And a various selection of drinking ales
