Hi, my name ie Sam.
I'm thinking about buying a micro brewery, and could
Do with a few tips.
Firstly is it safe to produce in my garage? Its on a block on the end of my row of houses. Also where's the best place to get my kit?
And lastly whats a good beer to brew? I want something fairly strong but taste is more important, or would it be better to get me own ingredients and make my own (this being the eventual plan)

Any help will be appreciated

Sam

Hi Sam, welcome to the forum.

I don't want to curb your obvious enthusiam but you should consider learning the basics before you start making plans to go commercial. We have an abundance of information available on the site and the question of commercially brewing at your own premises has also come up from time to time.

You might also think about posting your questions in the relevant sections of the forum as not too many of the members pop in here to welcome the new guys.

Hi, welcome to the forum. :drink:

By Micro brewery do you mean a Micro Brewery to brew commercially, if so I doubt you'll have space in your garage for it, or do you mean a small home brewery so you can do some Home Brew.

If it's Home Brew then your garage will be fine, I brew in my garage which is an integral one in the house.

All Grain is the Best way to go but it's best to start with a kit then gradually work your way up, All Grain brewing, although straight forward is quite a complicated way to start.

Heres my set up

Sorry I should've been more specific, I did mean home brewery. I was thinking of getting a kit from the internet? My garage has no power or heating, is that a problem?

Thanks
Sam

You don't need heating as such, but you will probably need power of some sort even if it's just for lighting.

The key thing is fermentation temperature, that needs to be at a fairly stable 20 centigrade.

Brewing beer whether from a beer kit, or whether from the raw ingredients all require one thing though and thats water, both for making up the beer and for the cleaning of everything. You can make do with a hose, but hot water for cleaning is preferable.

If you are planning on starting with a simple kit then you may be best off doing it in the house.

You can buy most of what you need to get started in Wilkinsons.
